Farewell from Romaco S.r.l. in Bologna

Managing Director Paolo Naldi retires

Karlsruhe/Germany, 2021-05-26 +++ Romaco recently bid a fond farewell to Paolo Naldi when the long-serving Managing Director of Romaco S.r.l., the Romaco Group’s Italian subsidiary in Bologna, stepped down from professional life.

After 24 years at the helm of Romaco S.r.l., Paolo Naldi is now enjoying well-earned retirement. He was previously responsible for running the Romaco Group’s Italian production facility in Bologna, home of the Macofar and Promatic product brands. Mr. Naldi’s departure from the Board of Management marks the end of an era which dates back to 1997.

A native of Bologna, he began his professional career in the late seventies with G.N.C. S.r.l., a North Italian manufacturer of pharmaceutical machinery. Yet after only a few years, Paolo Naldi left again in 1985 to set up his own company – Promatic – building electronic tablet counting machines. During the early nineties, he realigned Promatic’s product portfolio, focusing henceforth on the production of cartoners, case packers and final packaging solutions for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries. His strategy paid off: Promatic’s secondary and tertiary packaging solutions laid the foundation for today’s leading technologies in the global industry.

In 1992, Paolo Naldi took the decision to sell Promatic to the Romaco Group. He was convinced that by integrating his business into such a successful global player, he would improve the sales prospects for his products and pave the way for stable economic growth. Since then, the Promatic cartoners have been available as stand-alone machines as well as in line with blister and strip packaging machines from Noack and Siebler and powder and liquid filling machines from Macofar. Five years on, in 1997, the Romaco Group management appointed Paolo Naldi as Managing Director of Romaco S.r.l. with responsibility for the Macofar and Promatic product brands. It was a role he fulfilled very successfully right up until his retirement in 2021.

He stayed and oversaw the Bologna plant for nearly a quarter of a century with firm discipline and paternal rigour. The company was repeatedly expanded and enlarged under his leadership. It was ultimately thanks to his tremendous commitment that we were able to build our new state-of-the-art factory of around 15,000 square metres in Pianoro Bologna. Mr. Naldi dedicated his whole life to the firm and the firm became his family. It’s as a result of his efforts that his successors in the management team are so excellently prepared to write the next chapter in the Romaco S.r.l. success story irrespective of the challenges that lie ahead. The transition to the next generation was completed without a hiccup and the move into the new premises will set the course irrevocably for the future.”
